The Postal Route offers a variety of Private Mailbox Options.  We offer both physical and digital Private Mailboxes as well as Deluxe Private Mailboxes that include the features of both physical and digital boxes.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. What is the difference between a Private Mailbox and a PO Box?

    A Private Mailbox provides a physical address allowing the box holder to receive mail and packages from the United States Postal Service as well as FedEx, UPS, DHL, Amazon, and local deliveries including Wal-Mart, Target, Office Depot, and others.A PO Box is a product of the United States Postal Service and is only available at government Post Offices.PO Boxes can only receive mail and packages sent via the United States Postal Service.
     
  2. Can I forward my mail from my home to a Private Mailbox?
     

    You can establish a forwarding order with the United States Postal Service to route your mail from your physical street address to a Private Mailbox.  However, because the US Postal Service does not own the Private Mailbox, customers will not be able to enter a forwarding order from a Private Mailbox with the United States Postal Service.

    If you need a Private Mailbox for less than six months you should establish a forwarding order from the United States Postal Service to your Private Mailbox on a “Temporary” basis.  Once you no longer require the Private Mailbox you and change your forwarding from a “Temporary” basis to a “Permanent” basis to your new address.
     
  3. What are the differences between a Digital Private Mailbox and a Physical Private Mailbox?

    Physical Private Mailboxes are located at the store and are available 24 hours a day with access to the box by key.

    Digital Private Mailboxes have the advantage of mail management on your phone or computer 24 hours a day with visibility to all mail and packages received. Depending on the plan you choose, you can request to have the mail piece opened and scanned, recycled, shredded, forwarded, or picked up.  Some plans also allow you to request check deposits.

    Digital Private Mailbox contents are stored in a secure file cabinet on-site. Pick-up is limited to normal store hours.
     
  4. What is Informed Delivery Plus?

    Informed Delivery Plus provides a photo of all mail and packages in your box giving you the option to recycle or shred mail items, and reducing the number of in-store visits needed to pick up mail.  Informed Delivery Plus can be added to Physical #1, #2, #3, or #4 boxes to offer some of the remote features of a Private Digital Box.
     
  5. Do all individuals who receive mail to my box require Identifications?

    All adult names on the box require two forms of identification per the United States Postal Service. 

    Minors under the age of 18 can be added by the primary box holder and do not require identification.
